Would it be possible to include a login/register example functionality in the EmailContacts sample solution?
Not really, trying to keep Email Contacts as simple as possible. You can look at https://github.com/ServiceStack/HttpBenchmarks for an example with login/register that also stores and protects data against authenticated users.
